Ludhiana: The Centre for One Health at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU), Ludhiana, celebrated World One Health Day 2025 by organizing an awareness workshop highlighting the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health. The event, held for senior secondary students of Shaheed-E-Azam Sukhdev Thapar Government Girls Senior Secondary Smart School, aimed to promote understanding of disease prevention and control across species.
Welcoming the participants, Dr. Jasbir Singh Bedi, Director of the Centre, explained the significance of the One Health approach in tackling zoonotic diseases. Dr. Pankaj Dhaka led an interactive session on disease transmission and the threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR), while Dr. Deepthi Vijay educated students on rabies, its symptoms, and preventive measures. Postgraduate students demonstrated laboratory techniques, offering students insights into research and diagnostics.
In a related event, Dr. Deepali Kalambhe delivered a lecture titled ‘Beyond Boundaries: Collaborative Research Opportunities in One Health’ at Amity University, Noida.
Vice-Chancellor Dr. J.P.S. Gill commended the team’s efforts, emphasizing that the One Health approach is vital for a sustainable future. Dean Dr. S.S. Randhawa also lauded the initiative for engaging youth in scientific awareness and inspiring careers in veterinary and allied sciences.
