Chennai, Nov 4 (IANS) — Tamil Nadu Police have launched a massive manhunt to trace and arrest N. Satish Kumar, Namakkal district secretary of actor Vijay’s political outfit, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), after the Madras High Court rejected his anticipatory bail plea.
According to official sources, two special teams have been formed under the supervision of Inspector Kabilan to locate the absconding TVK functionary. The case pertains to an alleged attack on a private hospital in Namakkal during Vijay’s campaign tour in the district ahead of next year’s Assembly elections.
Satish Kumar had sought protection from arrest, claiming he was being falsely implicated for political reasons. His counsel, A. Murugavel, argued that the case was filed merely because Satish was present at the scene when the incident occurred.
However, police opposed the bail plea, stating that TVK cadres vandalised hospital property worth Rs 5 lakh during the unrest. They further informed the court that eight other criminal cases are already pending against Satish Kumar, including charges of public property damage. Following the bail denial, Satish has reportedly gone into hiding, prompting intensified search operations.
