Sacred yatra begins in Haryana to commemorate 350th martyrdom anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur

Chandigarh, Nov 9 (IANS) — Marking the 350th martyrdom anniversary of ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ Guru Tegh Bahadur, a sacred yatra was flagged off on Saturday from the holy land of Rori in Sirsa, Haryana.

Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini attended the ‘ardas’ at the historic Gurusar Rori Sahib Gurdwara and offered prayers for the peace, prosperity, and welfare of the state. Speaking on the occasion, he described Guru Tegh Bahadur as not just the protector of the Sikh community or India, but a global symbol of human rights and sacrifice.

CM Saini said the yatra aims to spread Guru Tegh Bahadur’s timeless message of courage, faith, and self-sacrifice to every corner of society. To mark the 350th year, four such sacred yatras will be held across Haryana, culminating in Kurukshetra on November 24 with an all-faith conference. A grand congregation (mahasamagam) will be organised on November 25, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend as the chief guest.

Highlighting Guru Tegh Bahadur’s deep connection with Haryana, Saini noted that the Guru’s travels through Jind, Kaithal, Pehowa, and Kurukshetra left a lasting spiritual legacy, with over 30 gurdwaras across the state preserving the memory of his divine teachings.
