AMRITSAR: The ongoing restoration and preservation work at Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib reached a significant milestone with the installation of fresh gold leaves in the inner western section of the sanctum. The task, entrusted by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to the Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha (GNNJS) Birmingham, was carried out with precision and devotion following a ceremonial Ardas.
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, along with Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib Granthi Singh Sahib Giani Rajdeep Singh and GNNJS Head Bhai Sahib Bhai Mohinder Singh, formally commenced the application of the newly prepared gold sheets. Dhami said that periodic restoration of the gold leaf and enamel work is essential to preserve the sanctity and artistic heritage of the shrine, adding that the Jatha has been diligently performing this responsibility.
Bhai Mohinder Singh expressed gratitude for being blessed with the opportunity to serve the Guru Ghar, acknowledging the support of the Sangat throughout the restoration efforts. He confirmed that the gold leaves are being crafted to match the original design, while enamel maintenance continues simultaneously.
The occasion was attended by several key officials, including Bhai Inderjit Singh, OSD Satbir Singh, Manager Bhagwant Singh Dhangera, Superintendent Prachar Malkit Singh Beharwal, Jaspal Singh Dhadde, Additional Manager Gurvinder Singh Devidaspur, and other SGPC representatives.
