CHANDIGARH: Panjab University launched ‘Nazariya 2025’ with the commencement of a three-day documentary filmmaking workshop, jointly organised by the Departments of English and Cultural Studies, Philosophy and Sociology. The workshop is being led by internationally acclaimed filmmaker Naval Preet Rangi.
The festival was inaugurated by Dr. Manmohan Singh, President of the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi, who spoke about the creative drive that sustains artistic expression. He said an artist is propelled by a constant inner restlessness and stressed the importance of platforms that bridge the worlds of theatre and cinema. Documentary films, he added, continue to play a vital role in shaping and influencing civil society.
A total of 29 research scholars from various university departments and other institutions participated in the workshop’s opening sessions. The programme features hands-on training, discussions, and film screenings aimed at exploring the purpose, politics and evolving practices of documentary filmmaking.
Nazariya 2025 will run until December 19, featuring a series of events centred on theatre, film culture and interdisciplinary creative collaborations. The festival will include screenings, interactive sessions with young filmmakers, stage performers, academicians and documentary practitioners from across the region.
