CHANDIGARH: Hours after Punjab Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Warring suspended her from the party’s primary membership, Navjot Kaur Sidhu launched a sharp attack on him, calling him “insensitive, irresponsible, morally dishonest and corrupt.” In a post on X, she said she could not support a leader who had “hurt countless workers through incompetence” and questioned why the Chief Minister was “shielding him.”
Kaur, wife of senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, was suspended over her controversial remark alleging that it “costs Rs 500 crore to become the Punjab Chief Minister.” Her comment, made while insisting that her husband would return to active politics only if he was declared the CM face, sparked a major political uproar within the party.
Speaking to the media after meeting Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Kaur had reiterated that they speak solely for Punjab’s interests but “do not have Rs 500 crore to give” for the Chief Minister’s position. She clarified that no one had demanded money from them, but alleged that those with deep pockets influence top political posts.
Reacting to her allegations, Congress leader Sukhjinder Randhawa recalled that after joining the Congress from the BJP, Kaur was made a minister and later elevated further, questioning her claims about money influencing political appointments.
