The 12th Amritsar International Folk Festival at Khalsa College Public School (KCPS) transformed into a vibrant celebration of global unity as Colombian artists and Punjabi performers came together for a unique musical fusion. The lively performances, filled with energetic beats and colourful cultural expressions, left the audience captivated and highlighted the strength of intercultural harmony.
Organised by the Khalsa College Governing Council in collaboration with the Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC), the event showcased a powerful blend of Latin American and Punjabi folk traditions. Artists from both cultures shared the stage, delivering foot-tapping dances and soulful musical pieces that promoted peace, friendship, and cultural understanding.
The Colombian folk ensemble Palma Africana not only presented traditional performances from their homeland but also enthusiastically joined KCPS students in iconic Punjabi dances like Gidda and Bhangra. Their participation added a special spark to the festival’s cultural showcase, making it a memorable experience for all present.
Chief Guest Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina, Honourary Secretary of KCGC and Pro-Chancellor of Khalsa University, honoured the artists with appreciation awards. He noted that such multicultural festivals play a crucial role in helping students explore global cultures, fostering unity, and strengthening bonds between different nations.
