Karnataka Govt to Finalise Rs 3,300 per Quintal Sugarcane Price Soon: CM Siddaramaiah

Bengaluru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday announced that the state government will soon issue a formal order fixing the sugarcane procurement price at Rs 3,300 per quintal.

Speaking to the media after paying floral tributes to Saint Kanakadasa on the occasion of Kanakadasa Jayanti in Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah said that the decision on sugarcane pricing had already been reached through consensus.

When asked about reports that some sugar mill owners, including BJP leader and industrialist Murugesh Nirani, had expressed willingness to pay only Rs 3,200 per quintal, the Chief Minister dismissed such claims. “There is no such issue. The price of Rs 3,300 per quintal was agreed upon by all parties in the meeting,” he clarified.

The Chief Minister’s statement comes amid ongoing discussions between the government and mill owners regarding the fair and remunerative price for sugarcane, a critical issue affecting thousands of farmers across the state.
