Raipur: Police have registered an FIR against an unidentified person in connection with the tragic train collision in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district, which claimed 11 lives and left 20 others injured. The case marks the start of a formal criminal investigation into the incident.

According to Additional Superintendent of Police Rajendra Jaiswal, the FIR was lodged at Torwa Police Station based on a memo received from a railway official. Authorities are now probing the cause of the collision and identifying those responsible for any possible negligence.

The fatal accident occurred on November 4 near Gatora station, when a MEMU passenger train collided head-on with a stationary freight train. The impact was severe, instantly killing 11 people, including the MEMU train’s loco pilot, and injuring several passengers.

Railway and police officials continue to examine technical and operational lapses that may have led to the crash, while rescue and relief operations have been completed. A detailed investigation is underway to determine accountability and prevent such tragedies in the future.
